The Men’s Group, our Ministry for Men, is a vital part of our church life, meeting every 2 weeks in the Parish Centre on Saturday mornings from 7.25a.m. until 8.45a.m. The early start is popular as is allows the rest of the day to be with families and friends.
The start is informal over cups of tea and coffee, chatting together and catching up with news and friendships. Then, breaking into 2 or 3 groups for Bible study and discussion, we learn from each other and enjoy much laughter. We are learning to be honest with each other and dare to ask tough questions as we grapple with our faith in a safe environment amongst friends.
We enjoy about four breakfasts each year, where a Full English Breakfast is cooked by the men. This is truly delicious and an opportunity to invite our friends. One of us may share our testimony or a guest speaker may be invited. These breakfasts are very interesting.
The Men’s Group is growing and we regularly welcome new members.
During the Autumn Term we shall be looking at the Letter to the Galatians. In it, Paul sorts out just what is a true Christian. Today, with an abundance of religious groups all calling themselves ‘Christian’ and all with different ideas about what that means, the message of Galations is one we desparately need to hear.
