The banner group was set up in the late 1990’s to make banners for the Parish Centre.
The first was a Christmas banner. This helped us realize that ‘banner making’ required a certain amount of expertise. How fortunate the group was when a tailoress and an artist joined.
The seven banners on the walls of the nave of the church depict the seven ‘I Am’ sayings of our Lord Jesus. They are very popular with both the congregation and visitors alike and the postcards, which have been produced of them, sell very well.
On the pillars at the front of the church are two banners which depict the Church’s Mission Statement – ‘Growing in Faith, Hope and Love, Sharing the Good News of Jesus with All’.
The group has been working diligently on their largest banner to date. When finished it will measure approximately 3 metres square and hang in the Parish Centre behind the cross. It’s theme is based upon ‘ Psalm 148 ‘ and shows many creatures in heaven and earth praising the Lord.
We meet on alternate Wednesday mornings in the Parish Centre, and experience great joy and fellowship. There is much talking and discussing as we work together over a cup of coffee, especially when we are planning a new banner.
