Friends of St. Laurence

Friends of St. Laurence

The Friends of St. Laurence Church was formed some years ago to raise money to help the Parochial Church Council with the cost of maintaining the fabric of the Church with repairs, restoration and preservation of the building, its fittings, fixtures, furniture and stained glass.

All the money raised is passed to a Building Trust awaiting requests from the P.C.C. for funds.

In the past, the Friends have paid for the repair of a stained glass window in the Chancel. In 2008, £1000 was passed to the Parochial Church Council towards the cost of repair to the Church Tower roof; and £48,000 will be passed to the PCC towards the cost of renewing the heating in the church during the present re-ordering.

To raise money, the Friends have a Coffee Morning in May and a Quiz evening later in the year.

Money is also raised from selling Friends of St. Laurence merchandise. There are Tea-towels, mugs, pens and notelets which are on sale in the Church Stretton Tourist Office, at every event, and also from the chairman – 01694 781241.

You are warmly invited to help to preserve and improve St. Laurence’s Church, Church Stretton by becoming a member of the Friends of St. Laurence Church. Click on the link below for an application form.
