World Mission
World Mission
A key part of our mission as a parish is to journey alongside our mission partners, Chris and Anna Hembury, who live and work in the UK, and Lea and Petra Williams, who live and work in the Czech Republic.
Chris and Anna Hembury
Here’s how Chris and Anna tell their story:
“We live in an area of Hull where people are known for their no-nonsense attitude and honest vulnerability, an area suffering from high unemployment, child poverty, addiction, mental and physical health problems, prostitution and increasing racial tension. People feel a crippling lack of self-worth. But it’s an area full of buried treasure, untapped potential and dormant creativity.
“We support a group who are living in a CMS house for mission and serving our local community. We help look after a community garden and a sort of drop in/sofa-church in our neighbourhood. We help run Orts, a sewing collective where women from all walks of life can support each other, learn and create together. We work alongside the Hull YFC team, supporting children, young people and families.”
Chris and Anna's call
To listen, learn, imagine, provoke and create; supporting people to connect with themselves, each other, the planet and God.
Chris and Anna's role
To share life with those on the margins, who struggle to know their worth but have much to teach us; to help usher in God’s Kingdom.

Lea and Petra Williams
Here’s how Lea and Petra tell their story:
“Thirty years after the Velvet Revolution ended Soviet rule in the Czech Republic, it is now the most secular country in Eastern Europe according to a 2017 Pew Research survey.
“The harsh realities of the Soviet era continue to cast a shadow. While attitudes towards the church were previously ambiguous, imposed atheism and the persecution of believers (from brutal force to subtle harassment) have left the community of faith scarred and society deeply sceptical.”
Lea and Petra's call
To create Christian community committed to missional hospitality, where all are welcome and play a part in God’s mission.
Lea and Petra's role
To lead the Anglican congregation in Brno and develop a vibrant Christian community where people explore faith, meet Jesus and grow as disciples
